I've started creating some cracked plaster surfaces for photo stylists and photographers. I'm really excited about these surfaces! It's a different way to express myself creatively, and I'm really enjoying the process. Playing with color and texture, yes, that's all me.
The surfaces are created on a recycled, neutral colored canvas, so they are amazingly flexible. This makes them a perfect thing to work on in the bus. I roll them out and begin exploring color palettes and distressing techniques. I love looking around at nature, and old crumbly bits for inspiration.
Bonus, I've been using the surface when I take photographs, and I'm really happy with the way my paintings look displayed on these surfaces. I think these new surfaces would be a beautiful background for product shots, wedding details (boutonnieres, stationary, etc), food styling, flatlays, etc. The sky is the limit!
I have an idea for another type of surface, a little more on the painterly/artsy side. I'm also looking forward to exploring some new color combinations (although, if you know me, you know how much I appreciate beautiful neutrals), to evoke other moods in photographs. So, stay tuned to see what I come up with.
